Eurofins Digital Testing, which provides quality assurance and testing services, has announced the acquisition of Swedish Labatus, which offers automated test development, planning and strategy solutions for iOS, Chromecast and Android devices.

Eurofins did not disclose financial terms for the deal, but said the aim was to strengthen its ability to help operators accelerate and reinforce deployment of multi-platform TV and video services around the globe. The company added that Labatus’ tailor-made test solutions complemented its own suite of products and services, which aim to ensure service-providers’ QoS.

Both companies specialise in creating automated test suites that can be implemented either at customer premises or offsite labs.

As part of the acquisition, Eurofins Digital Testing – which was formed from the merger of Digital TV Labs and Testronic Labs Belgium – will gain additional offices in Sweden and other locations around the globe. It will also benefit from Labatus’ experience supporting companies like TiVo on operator deployments such as Com-Hem in Sweden, amongst others, the company said.

Separately, Eurofins has also announced that it has now opened a new test facility in Gdansk, Poland. The new lab is designed to provide a highly cost-effective, near-shore testing facility for European operators, the company said.
