The LTE mobile network and FTTH operator Jio (Jio Reliance Jio Infocomm) is powering its multiscreen service in India using ACCESS Twine and the NetFront Browser family of products from ACCESS. Among other things, the technology means Jio customers can securely access the operator’s content catalogue from set-top boxes as well as Android, iOS, Mac- and Windows-powered multiscreen devices, both at home and away from home.
The deployment leverages ACCESS Twine for secure multiscreen management and the NetFront Browser family for seamless experiences across cloud services and a wide range of portable screens. Users can use any device, also including home gateways and HDMI dongles, to access the video services. The Jio Digital Lifestyle experience, underpinned by the ACCESS products, means users can play content saved in their Jio Drive cloud service or share it with friends and family. Content from Dropbox, Google Drive, YouTube and social media networks is available through the Jio user interface, whether you are at home or elsewhere.
“India is the most prolific content provider in the whole world and has one of the highest rates of local consumption, especially on the 1 billion mobile devices currently in use,” observes Dr. Neale Foster, Chief Operating Officer at ACCESS Europe. “The dramatic shift towards digital viewing and the rollout of 4G and FTTH services across the country are enabling Jio to deploy next generation services. Our solutions portfolio enables consumers to access their personal content alongside Jio’s catalogue and external sources easily from the comfort of the home, the tap of a finger or through the cloud securely, seamlessly and without fail.”
