OTT software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform provider Easel TV has merged UK cinema chain Curzon’s membership scheme into its home cinema service using its Suggested TV product, allowing Curzon to supply its members with home cinema benefits as an integral part of their membership experience.
Easel TV deployed Suggested TV – which will be demonstrated on Easel TV’s stand at IBC – in a mode which combines the use of TVoD and SVoD, as well as linking SVoD with cinema membership, offering Curzon multiple ways to market and monetise its Home Cinema service. The new service has been dubbed CURZON12 and is curated and programmed by the Curzon cinemas team.
Philip Mordecai, Director of Digital Ventures at Curzon, said the cinema chain wanted to make Curzon Home Cinema “an integrated part of our core cinema customer’s life – not just a isolated or standalone alternative.” The new service meant that Curzon members could not only receive a discount on PVoD/TVoD purchases, but now gain instant access to a highly curated selection of films, he said.
Joe Foster, Easel TV CEO, said the Suggested TV implementation provided “a powerful demonstration of how to seamlessly integrate multiple commercial models in one cohesive OTT service.”
