At IBC Netgem, which provides connected entertainment solutions for the telecommunications market, will be highlighting its entry into the Estonian market – its third new territory this year after Germany and the Middle East – through a deal with Finnish telecoms operator Elisa to deploy its TV entertainment software suite there.
The new service, dubbed Binge TV, will enable Elisa to reach new audience segments in Estonia thanks to Netgem’s Virtual STB platform. Binge TV will feature a variety of new TV services, including an integrated UI that seamlessly surfaces content in one place from across a range of local and international linear channels, 7-day catch-up, and integration of OTT services such as YouTube and Netflix. The Netgem solution also integrates the Binge TV mobile app, which provides direct access to live and catch-up services across available channels.
Binge TV also incorporates a network PVR facility offering access to thousands of hours of on demand programming across a multiscreen environment inside and outside the home, with a recommendation engine based on the most popular programmes.
Elisa currently provides services to 2.3 million consumer, corporate and public administration customers. Einari Kanerva, Head of Binge Business at Elisa, said that by deploying Binge TV, Elisa was able to reach a growing population who wanted access to their TV content wherever they were, adding that Netgem’s platform gave it “a unique flexibility to add more content and features over time.”
