AirTies – the Istanbul-based Wi-Fi specialist which supplies Wi-Fi Mesh solutions to operators around the globe – will demonstrate an Android TV version of its 4K/UHD IP STB, the Air 7415, at IBC. The new STB aims to address the growing demand for Android TV from video service-providers.
AirTies says the Air 7415 enables operators to expand their 4K product offerings and replace their out-dated HD platforms with a cost-effective 4K solution that meets Android TV requirements. The new STB is able to integrate OTT applications alongside operators’ apps, and simplify installation by connecting wirelessly to home networks.
The STB uses Broadcom’s BCM72604 chipset, which features 7K DMIPS and 2GB of RAM; supports apps such as YouTube and Google Cast in addition to the Android TV OS; and will manage HDR and SDR-HDR conversion for UHD TV applications.
Thomas Fehr, General Manager, Set-top Box at AirTies, described the Air 7415 as an “elegant, powerful, and economical choice” for operators seeking to leverage the Android eco-system.
