The Korean satellite broadcaster KT Skylife has revealed that it is using NAGRA’s NexGuard watermarking solution to meet the forensic watermarking requirements mandated by MovieLabs’ Enhanced Content Protection benchmark for premium content, including 4K Ultra HD and HDR. This security enhancement also means KT Skylife can give its subscribers the best content available without restrictions (as well as protecting its service from piracy). KT Skylife has been a NAGRA customer since 2010. “KT Skylife is now able to create the ultimate closed-loop approach to fighting piracy,” says Stephane Le Dreau, Senior Vice President Sales & Services for APAC at NAGRA.
The NexGuard forensic watermarking technology adds a unique, invisible identifier to video content delivered to set-top boxes, smart TVs and other video players. It embeds a unique watermark for any video shown and this can be used trace illicit re-distribution back to a specific subscriber account. The watermark remains with the content even through transcoding, resizing, downscaling, camcording or any other alteration.
