Content providers are being offered the chance to enrich long-distance sports events like marathons, rallies or bicycle races using AR within a companion screen experience, and also include targeted advertising in this second screen environment. Accedo provides the AR capabilities via its Accedo One video platform and AWS Elemental enables the insertion of targeted ads into the second-screen content streams, using its cloud-based MediaTailor solution. An API integration provides the technical link between the technologies.
Accedo will demonstrate the AR companion targeted ads solution on its stand in partnership with AWS Elemental during IBC. The expectation is that this joint-initiative will give content owners a new way to monetise content and provide brands with an innovative consumer touchpoint. This solution addresses the technical challenges associated with AR device fragmentation, live video synchronisation and other information elements.
