IBC 2018: ACCESS and Castoola speed up HbbTV adoption with new partnership debuting at IBC

ACCESS, a provider of advanced IT solutions centered around mobile and network software technologies, and Castoola, an HbbTV platform supplier, have announced a collaboration to provide broadcaster and operators with what they describe as a ‘future-proofed’ HbbTV solution. The new partnership will debut at IBC and showcase the new solution on the EKT and Beenius stands (Beenius is the media system integrator for the Castoola platform, and offers it as a solution to the TV industry).

The new HbbTV solution, which combines the Castoola HbbTV platform with ACCESS’s NetFront Browser BE product, has been developed to address the interoperability challenges between client and server products for multiscreen from both companies, and aims to simplify the development, testing and deployment of HbbTV services in order to speed up time-to-market.

Dr Neale Foster, CEO of ACCESS Europe, explained that although HbbTV had the potential to offer consumers richer and more interactive viewing experiences, the technology’s adoption had been held back by the industry’s slow progress. Foster said he hoped the partnership with Castoola would put HbbTV back on the route to becoming one of the most influential standards for digital TV.
