Elemental Technologies, the encoding company that has been leading the charge towards HEVC-compressed UHD with various transmission firsts, has conducted a study with over 200 customers that shows a strong appetite for UHD and for the HEVC codec. 88% are likely to adopt HEVC by 2016 and 74% are likely to adopt 4K/UHD delivery by 2016. Elemental Technologies has been helping to pioneer the new format with the world’s first real-time 4Kp30 HEVC live transmission at the Osaka Marathon in October last year, the world’s first real-time 4Kp60 live transmission in London in December and a 4Kp60 real-time transmission to multiple devices at CES in January.
