New online TV platform launch: TV4 Play

Tell your friends

TV has always been something you talk about with your friends. And since you do it offline it’s natural that you do it online too. That simple fact was one of the drivers in the development of our new online TV platform TV4 Play.

The social aspect of TV is accomplished with the use of Facebook Connect. If you have a Facebook-account (and many people in the our audience have) you can log in - using your Facebook-account - and comment and connect with your friends. What gets commented on the site gets published on your wall as well (along with a link to the page). The published link can then be commented by your friends.

Have a look at Usain Bolts WR 9.58 from Berlin and make a comment (picture insert) and make a comment.

The way TV4 Play  uses Facebook has several advantages, both for the visitor and us. There are no extra steps to create yet another account in yet another new service, but you can still verify your identity and log in. Since the user is registrered and most likely connected to friends the comments written are of higher quality compared to anonymous or guest comments (although we accept anonymous comments as well).

For TV4 Play the links shared on Facebook walls are a way of distributing links to our content. People find - through their friends - content they might not have visited otherwise, which ads a viral opportunity just by sharing.

We believe that this is just the first step of many towards connecting our users with our content and ourselves. Something that will make the experience better to all involved.
