Microsoft have secured a deal with Canal Plus to allow users to access films-on-demand, dramas and sports. In a similar deal struck between Sky and Microsoft recently announced, Microsoft are clearly looking towards pay-TV to differentiate themselves in the competitive games console market. The deal makes sense to Canal Plus too as they will benefit from offering a social TV experience generated through the Xbox live technology, enabling consumers to interact and engage while watching TV. The deal with Vivendi unit Canal Plus, Xbox live members will be able to access video on demand including more than 3,000 films, premium dramas and soaps live and subsequently on demand, and French Ligue 1 soccer games.
