  • Video is the future for Cisco
  • Connected Home

In a recent interview, John Chambers, CEO, Cisco, said that video is Cisco’s “next big thing”. The interview was led by questions from a twitter-based audience with answers filmed and uploaded to You Tube. In a step that was too far, marketing folk at Cisco edited the video in an amateurish fashion, to maintain the social media feel. Surprisingly, despite the high-profile interviewee, only 564 people have watched the video since it was posted on July 2nd.

Chamber’s believes that the future lies in making content, whether UGC or prime-time, available anywhere around the home and beyond. This certainly tallies up with a recent interview with Cisco conducted at ANGA cable where the message was all about multi-platform and device convergence. The You Tube interview centres on Flip Video and how consumers can record content, share it and interact with other consumer electronic devices. According to Chambers, “Cisco is very uniquely positioned to help change all forms of communication with video”.
