Catch-up TV ‘player’ services are considered the most important TV technology development in the last decade according to a survey conducted for Freeview to mark its 10th anniversary. 36% of viewers voted for catch-up TV compared to 14% for PVRs. That means time-shifting in one form or another is the most important thing to happen to TV for half of viewers. One-tenth said digital switchover was more important. The launch of 3DTV was the most important development for 5% of respondents and mobile TV was hailed by 4%.
