Gerry O’Sullivan, Senior VP Global TV & Entertainment at Deutsche Telekom has highlighted the importance of content discovery in keeping customers happy, and therefore keeping them out of the arms of OTT providers. Speaking at OTT TV World Summit this week, he referred to research showing that people still complain they have nothing to watch despite having 400 channels of TV and large VOD libraries from their Pay TV providers.
“Search and recommendation tools and the ways you personalise content are important,” he said. “Our role is to try to make that experience easier and it is something we can do. I do not want to go home this evening after a hard day’s work and have to log into and out of five or six different services to get to content. I am too tired for that. That is not the kind of experience people want.”
