TeliaSonera’s Swedish subsidiary, Telia, has become the first operator in the Nordic region to offer HBO as part of its television service – and notably the deal includes availability on computer, phones and tablets. Telia’s almost 500,000 TV customers can watch new episodes of the channel’s popular series, subtitled in Swedish, within one day of the original broadcast. The price for HBO will be 79 SEK per month and this includes the multi-screen access. Content on the TV will be available in HD.

The package includes past seasons of classic series and a selection of library movies. “This is exactly what customers want: the latest episode of your favourite series, right after the premiere in the U.S, plus access to what you have missed,” says Kent Jonsson, Consumer Marketing Manager for Broadband Services at Telia. “That is a truly great television experience.”

The plan is to make HBO available via TeliaSonera across all the Nordic markets, with Finland coming next, then Norway and Denmark. “TeliaSonera’s position and its innovative approach in the Nordic market made them an obvious choice for us,” comments Hervé Payan, CEO of HBO Nordic. His company has previously announced plans to make HBO content available online in the Nordics direct to consumers.
