Netgem announces new low-cost STB and reaches landmark

Netgem has launched a new hybrid set top box at this year’s IP&TV World Forum. The low-cost N7700 box is designed to integrate managed OTT content and services into any broadcast ecosystem, regardless of size or primary content delivery method.

The N7700 is aimed primarily at broadband operators looking to launch payTV services as part of a triple or quad play package. It is also suited to IPTV operators in emerging markets and niche or regional players looking to reach specific audiences using OTT delivery. The STB can also be deployed with the nCloud platform so services providers can provision in-demand connected home services and value-added social TV applications in order to minimise churn.

Netgem has just passed a new landmark figure of four million HD IPTV set-top boxes featuring the Netgem software suite, which have been shipped to twelve countries to date. Customer wins announced today at the show include Mediaserv and Wibox, an emerging French Internet service provider and telecom operator.

Christophe Aulnette, Chief Executive Officer of Netgem, said: “The Telecom landscape is changing rapidly and operators find themselves under intense competitive and financial pressure. We have put our 16 years of experience in the television and broadband industries into this new IPTV solution. This solution is a perfect fit for operators looking to enter the video and television service space for the first time, Netgem can offer both its technology expertise and its success in managing large scale deployments. We also believe we can also help more established players develop their services, even if they have already deployed competing solutions.”
