QuickPlay Media, a cloud-based platform for delivering media to connected devices, has added support for the new BlackBerry 10 platform. It has announced an implementation that combines adaptive streaming with Microsoft PlayReady DRM so service providers can target the new customers of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone with their multi-screen TV offers.
“Multichannel video program distributors looking to quickly and cost effectively roll out VOD and live TV services to subscribers using any BlackBerry 10 smartphone or other mobile device can do so by leveraging QuickPlay’s managed services offerings,” the company explains.
Martyn Mallick, VP Global Alliances and Business Development at RIM, which makes the Blackberry, says: “With BlackBerry 10, we have re-designed and re-engineered the BlackBerry platform to support the kind of compelling, high quality mobile video services that QuickPlay offers, and that customers want.”
