Swisscom aims to harness HEVC encoding first on its multi-screen services but Markus Gisi, Head of TV & Entertainment at the company, reveals here that the telco expects to use HEVC for its classic IPTV services by 2014, with the ambition of reducing HD bit rates while simultaneously increasing picture quality and extending the reach of services to near-100% of Swisscom homes.
