Andrew Burke, CEO at Amino Technologies, believes Pay TV operators will increasingly pursue an ‘offnet’ strategy by harnessing STBs that can support HTML5 and HTTP Live Streaming to deliver OTT services. At IBC2011 he explained why a complementary OTT set-top box makes sense in existing customer homes as well, and looked ahead to the possibility of OTT content being cached in STBs for peer-to-peer sharing with neighbours to improve QoE.
