Informal IBC sample says Smart TV crucial to success

    Irdeto commissioned some informal research among IBC attendees last month and from a sample of 93 people, of which 30% were Pay TV operators, content owners/distributors or broadcasters, 53% said they are threatened by OTT, 41% see Smart TV as crucial to a platform operator’s future strategy, and 38% believe improving existing services is the most crucial aspect in mitigating piracy. 33% identified tablets as the most important device for future content revenues and smartphones were considered the key device for future success by 12% of respondents.
