RTL Deutschland and Kabel Deutschland, the German cable operator, have worked together to launch a Dynamic Advertising Insertion (DAI) solution that will be used for on-demand RTL content. This is one of the first examples of DAI for cable VOD in Europe and is thought to be a first in Germany.
The solution is supported by SeaChange International technology. RTL would not comment on the business model for the cooperation, which involves the insertion of new advertising into the on-demand viewing streams, apart from referring to Kabel Deutschland as its ‘technical service provider’. The aim will be to combine Dynamic Advertising Insertion with targeting for this non-linear content. The details were revealed during a Breakfast Briefing at Future TV Advertising Forum this week.
