SDMC and Amlogic are the newest technology vendors to join the NAGRA Android Fast Track program in a collaboration designed to give Pay TV operators more choice when it comes to Android TV based deployments. Shown to visitors at the APAC Android TV Summit in Bangkok recently, the pre-integration combines the NAGRA Connect security client and a new hybrid set-top box by SDMC powered by the Amlogic S905X3 series system-on-chip (SoC). The solution will operate in full compliance with the Google MediaCAS framework.

NAGRA, the content protection and multiscreen television specialist, is leveraging its long-standing experience in Android-based OTT and hybrid TV to drive the NAGRA Android Fast Track program. This programme combines a highly secure and fully featured ecosystem of technologies, partners and services to successfully plan hybrid and OTT deployments and help operators execute on the Android TV journey. SDMC is a professional Google-certified company providing Android TV smart set-top boxes (STBs). Amlogic is the global fabless semi-conductor company and Google SoC partner

“In order to compete in today’s fast-moving pay-TV environment, operators need to have the right solutions at their disposal to deliver the services consumers want and deliver them quickly – while at the same time securing their business model,” says Maurice Van Riek, SVP and Head of Content and Asset Security at NAGRA. “Through the NAGRA Android Fast Track program, we are now able to deliver more choice to Pay TV operators looking to deploy a pre-integrated Android TV-based solution that enables a shorter time to market and safeguards premium assets from piracy.”

James Xie, Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Strategy, Amlogic, comments: “By adding NAGRA security clients to Amlogic’s DVB-C hybrid STB platform, we are committed to removing barriers for Pay TV operators through highly secure hybrid STBs that deliver a great multimedia user experience to consumers.”

NAGRA Connect delivers Hollywood-grade cardless security for connected and non-connected use cases, driven by the NAGRA Security Services Platform. It is part of NAGRA’s scalable service protection offering which goes beyond CAS and DRM to secure premium content over any network and to any device, including Android TV. NAGRA content protection solutions meet Hollywood requirements for premium content like 4K Ultra HD and HDR and provide full support for the Google MediaCAS framework.
