Broadpeak’s innovative S4Streaming technology, which moves control of ABR stream selection (based on network conditions) from clients back to the server, so that operators have more intelligent control over QoE prioritisation, is being deployed at CETIN, the wholesale telecoms provider incorporated in Czech Republic. The technology, part of a private CDN powered by Broadpeak, forms part of a multi-national cloud TV service that will be offered on a wholesale basis across the CEE region. Kaltura is deploying the complete cloud service to CETIN including the Kaltura TV Platform, cross device user experienced and security. Kaltura is the system integrator for the project.
Most of the CEE customers using the wholesale service from CETIN will be local telcos launching new TV services to complement broadband or telephony. It is possible that existing TV services could also migrate to the new cloud-based platform.
The new CETIN service is designed so that telcos can become ‘super aggregators’, combining linear and live TV content with time-shifted content plus the most relevant streaming services, all made available via a unified and cross-device UX. End-users will appreciate a personalized TV experience.
“This super-aggregation strategy allows the operators to keep viewers within their branded experience, while allowing them to connect to their existing streaming subscriptions, directly within their trusted cloud TV service,” says Kaltura.
“This is the third Cloud TV service that we have launched for global operators that are providing a single multi-tenant cloud-based TV service across multiple countries,” notes Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Co-founder, Chairman and CEO. “Our Cloud TV platform enables unmatched ROI by maximizing audience reach, engagement, and monetization, and by minimizing integration, deployment and upgrade time, complexities, and costs.”
Juraj Šedivý, CEO at CETIN, says: “Kaltura’s proven track record with tier-1 multi-national cloud TV deployments was a major differentiator when it came to selecting our partner of choice for this massive initiative. It was imperative for us to find one vendor to offer a complete solution that can evolve fast with an agile roadmap, delivered from the cloud, allowing our service to stay ahead of the curve.”
Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak adds: “We pride ourselves on offering a hybrid delivery solution which combines the best of managed network with the benefits of the cloud, resulting in the most cost-effective solution for our customers, and the optimal experience for their viewers.”
