Foxtel has chosen TiVo to support voice search across linear TV and VOD on its Pay TV platform (in Australia). The company already uses the TiVo Personalized Content Discovery Platform and the voice feature provides a conversational experience, with the system even piecing together clues that consumers might provide even when they do not know the exact name of a film or programme. This will make it faster for viewers to find content.
The solution combines language recognition, an understanding of naturally spoken responses and machine-learning powered insights that will allow Foxtel to refine the experience. “The voice search innovation allows our viewers to use natural, voice-based queries to discover content across channels and devices, taking their entertainment experience to the next level,” confirms Nick Dandy, Director of Product Innovation at Foxtel.
