Thematic channel producer Dreamia (which is owned jointly by Portuguese entertainment giant NOS and AMC Networks International Southern Europe) launched PANDA+ last month – a  new Portuguese streaming service for children and families. The subscription based service has both VOD and live TV and leverages Kaltura’s cloud based TV platform, with Kaltura providing its front end and user interface. The entire end-to-end solution for the service was delivered by Kaltura within only four months of signing contracts.

The UX developed for PANDA+ has pre-integrated system components, which Kaltura believes furnishes the service with a platform which is “robust and resilient” and avoids issues of technical interoperability. The user interface (and content discovery) is also easy to navigate and simple for children, according to the company. The service features parental controls supported by the Kaltura platform, as well as user authentication and Multi-DRM for content protection.

“Thanks to Kaltura’s end-to-end service platform, we are confident that customers streaming content from the Panda+ SVOD service can enjoy a friendly multiscreen user experience,” said Susanna Barbato, Director at Dreamia.
