Internet Box 4 – the newest fibre-optic router from Swiss telco Swisscom –  is being powered by SoftAtHome software. The independent broadband/video software company previously provided its Smart Wifi’ON and Connect’ON software products for Swisscom’s Internet Box 3 router.

The Internet Box 4 gives Swisscom’s fibre customers a superfast WLAN with the Wi-Fi 6 standard and an end-to-end service of 10Gbps. The companies say it offers a faster LAN speed and great WLAN capacity, and natively integrates XGS-PON access for easier fibre-optic deployment across Switzerland. The device also has parental control features and up to 5 HD telephones working over an integrated DECT station.

Marchel Burgherr, Head of Gateways, Phones and Other Devices said, “Swisscom and SoftAtHome have partnered for several years and are committed to always bringing the best Wi-Fi and connectivity products to Swiss customers. Our new Internet-Box 4 is based on the latest innovations, delivering a best-in-class experience. With the end-to-end 10Gbps, it has been designed as a premium product for fibre-optic connection and to allow superfast Wi-Fi.”

David Viret-Lange, CEO of SoftAtHome, also commented, “Swisscom pushes the boundaries for a premium home network with ever-more ambient and secure connectivity.”

In another significant collaboration with a major telco SoftAtHome is providing its Wi-Fi’ON software for Orange Jordan’s new wireless Mesh Home Gateway and Repeaters, as announced last month.

The CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny, said: “In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, users in Jordan are increasingly demanding a faster and more reliable connection, and as a responsible digital leader, we continue offering optimal digital solutions to provide users with the best Wi-Fi experience.”
