Tubi and Lionsgate have reached a multi-year agreement which will see 30 Lionsgate feature films appearing exclusively on the AVOD. Tubi – the free ad-supported VOD service – and Lionsgate have struck a content licensing agreement which will see 30 Lionsgate feature films appearing exclusively on the streamer. Under the agreement, 200 other titles in Lionsgate’s library will also be made available on Tubi, including films such as Shattered, Pursuit, and Wolf Hound.

The deal included titles not already covered under Lionsgate’s Pay 1 theatrical output agreement with Starz – the Lionsgate-owned streaming service which the studio could spin off this year. In the last two months, the studio struck a Pay 2 window movie output deal with both Roku and Peacock, the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service. The Roku Channel will have a brief exclusive window after Starz’s Pay 1 TV window, then Peacock will have an exclusive window before titles are windowed on The Roku Channel for a second time.

Chief Content Officer at Tubi, Adam Lewinson, says: “We’re thrilled to be expanding our long-standing partnership with Lionsgate. Bringing together an exclusive free offering of 30 upcoming releases, as well as beloved movies and series from Lionsgate’s world-class content library, will deliver even more value to our viewers.”

President of Domestic Television Distribution at Lionsgate, Ryan Lowerre, said: “This agreement reflects our ability to have multiple bespoke content licensing deals with an expanding array of buyers in every part of the content ecosystem. We’re pleased to expand our longstanding relationship with Tubi, a leader among AVOD platforms, to bring an exciting slate of star-driven multiplatform films to their viewers.”

Tubi’s AVOD service currently has a library of over 40,000 films and series, as well as 125 local and live news, sports, and entertainment channels.
