When the monetization window lasts only 72 hours, every second counts. The premium on speed reflects a new reality of the advertising-supported television business. As more people watch TV shows through PCs, mobile devices and in-home VOD platforms, there’s a growing desire among networks to make sure the advertisements that appeared during original broadcasts carry through to time- shifted viewers. Otherwise, TV networks won’t be compensated from their advertisers for a rising share of the viewing audience.
